Crisp, Gruner Veltliner’s and Vermentino’s – hints of celery and white pepper perfect for pasta and the first green vegetables of the year. Bright, racy whites from Portugal’s Vinho Verde pulsing with lemon and lime paired with fresh fish and Mediterranean veg couscous or bone-dry Greek Assyrtiko for salads with feta cheese, honey and dates.
Rosés from Provence, the ideal partner for smoked BBQ dishes or Californian Zinfandel with bags of sweet cherry to partner chicken glazed with mango and chilli sauce. Fragrant, spicy Thai chicken currys working in harmony with floral Gewürztraminers and Viogniers.
Smooth whites from Burgundy or Stellenbosch with nutty aromas and creamy notes, perfect for root veg’ soups after the pumpkin’s been carved. Savoury reds from the earthy and herby Southern Rhone, begging for spring lambs with a rosemary crumb. Award winning English wine with a ripe orchard nose of apple and pear, delicious with anything involving lots of cheddar!
Aged, tannic reds, with meaty and gamey notes from Bordeaux’s right bank laden with late plum and hedgerow flavours, ideal for a grilled pigeon breast on a bed of winter veg and lentils. Rioja’s with oak and spice supplying the accompaniment to hearty stews, broths and roasts while Rhine Rieslings slice with acidity through rich and wholesome Alpine dishes laden with cream, potatoes and cheese!
